Soundsright reveals the the story behind the music…

“This music production is a unique blend of Ukrainian tradition with an original composition. The piece starts with a mother singing a Ukrainian traditional nursery rhyme (Kotyku Sirenkyj - You, the grey cat).

This is a traditional lullaby known by every Ukrainian, young and old. Later she is accompanied by an emotional and tense orchestral score. Together with the director, we were looking for a way to emphasise the endlessness of the war.

We achieved this by making use of a melody that is rising endlessly. After the climax, the music collapses and slowly builds up again with a child now humming the melody of Kotyku sirenkyj and later joined by her mother singing. This symbolises the reunification of the mother and her child, which were previously separated by the war.”
